I pray the Wild Horses may always run free. As I type they are being rounded up by the US government and slaughtered by the hundreds, to clear the land for cattle to graze for free on public lands, subsidized by our tax dollars.

Through fields of white, on windswept plains,
Where silence falls like winter’s reins,
The wild ones race, untamed, untied,
Their hooves a drumbeat, swift and wide.

In swirling snow, they leap and roam,
A thousand dreams beneath the dome
Of sky so pale, where clouds do roam,
They run, yet never call a home.

Each breath a mist, each stride a prayer,
As if they’re born to ride the air.
With fiery eyes and spirit bold,
They carry stories left untold.

In the snow, they leave no trace,
Yet in our hearts, they leave their grace—
